This guide provides a dteailed overview of the location and acquisition method for abilities in the game. These powerful skills offer significant gameplay advantages and are unlocked by completing specific objectives or discovering hidden areas across the various acts.

Turret – The Autonomous Ability

The Turret is an autonomous device that provides supplementary damage and tactical control over the battlefield. Find the Autonomous Ability by defeating the boss of the abandonded temple.

  • Reward: Turret

Location

  • Act: 1
  • Stage: 4 (also referred to as Depth 4)

How to Get

The Turret ability is a guaranteed reward for completing the first major section of the game. It is located in the area immediately following the defeat of the Act 1 final boss. After the boss fight, proceed to the transition room before Act 2, and you will find the ability waiting to be collected. It cannot be missed as long as you complete the stage.

Anchor – The Mighty Ability

The Anchor is a powerful ability that grants significant offensive or defensive capabilities, often related to crowd control or heavy damage. Find the Mighty Ability by unlocking the treasury.

  • Reward: Anchor

Location

  • Act: 2
  • Area: Transition Zone (non-combat area between encounters)

How to Get

While progressing through Act 2, you may encounter a locked door in one of the transition or “safe” zones between combat encounters. This door requires one key to open. The Anchor ability is located in the small room that lies beyond this locked door.

Note: The layouts of transition zones can be procedurally generated, meaning the exact location of the locked door may differ between runs. It is highly recommended to conserve at least one key while in Act 2 to ensure you can unlock the door when you find it.

Pro Tip

The powerful stun from the Anchor is perfect for setting up devastating attacks. To discover the best equipment to pair it with, explore our All Weapons page and enhance your arsenal further with our detailed guide to Weapon Mods.

Ancient Core – The Ancient Ability

The Ancient Core is a unique and potent ability, often providing a fundamental shift in gameplay mechanics. It is the only ability found outside of a standard run. Find the Ancient Ability by collecting 6 artifacts.

  • Reward: Ancient Core

Location

  • Area: Pregame Lobby (Hub World)
  • Room: Trophy Room

How to Get

The ability is housed within the Trophy Room in the main hub area. Follow these steps to access it:

  1. Locate the Trophy Room: In the lobby, position yourself at the workbench. The entrance to the Trophy Room is directly opposite the workbench, just past the soul upgrade wheel.
  2. Meet the Unlock Requirement: Access to this room is restricted. The door will only open after you have successfully collected a total of 6 artifacts.
  3. Acquire Artifacts: Artifacts are special rewards earned by completing specific in-game challenges or milestones. Players who have completed multiple runs or have successfully progressed beyond Act 2 are likely to have met this requirement naturally.

Once the 6-artifact threshold is met, the entrance will unlock permanently, allowing you to enter and collect the Ancient Core.

Brine Field – The Protective Ability

The Brine Field is a defensive ability that creates a protective or damaging area-of-effect, ideal for controlling space and mitigating threats. Find the Protective Ability by ascending the pillars.

  • Reward: Brine Field

Location

  • Act: 3
  • Area: Starting Zone or Transition Zone

How to Get

Within Act 3, you will need to find a specific room layout. This room is a non-combat zone characterized by a central bridge surrounded by multiple tall, distinct pillars. The Brine Field ability is located at the very top of the tallest pillar in this area.

To reach it, you must utilize your character’s full range of movement abilities, such as jumping, climbing, or dashing, to ascend the pillar.

Note: This specific “pillar room” has a chance to appear in various stages throughout Act 3. If you do not find it at the beginning of the act or miss the opportunity, you will likely encounter it again in later transition zones within the same act.
